This is a unique and exciting opportunity to become a Volunteer Coordinator for AWLQ!
About the role
Reporting to our Human Resources Manager, you will be integral member of our HR Team. AWLQ values our extensive volunteering team who are committed to supporting the organisation to provide a better future for the animals in our care. This role is based at our Coombabah site and the major components are to facilitate induction, provide support, onboard, roster, administer, and coach our wonderful volunteer team.
- Partnering with our Volunteer Administration Coordinator to provide a best-practice volunteering experience.
- Assisting with administering the recruitment process and volunteer life-cycle.
- Facilitating volunteer inductions three Saturdays a month, two at Coombabah and one at Beenleigh.
- Facilitating occasional Community Service Workers Induction programs in conjunction with QPS.
- Building quality relationships with volunteering team to instill a collaborative positive culture.
- Developing a skilled and proficient volunteer team to assist team members with providing a more cost-effective rehoming program.
- Supporting the organisation with knowledge of departmental volunteering requirements.
- Ensuring policies and processes are abided by to maintain a safe workplace.
- Managing dispute resolution processes for volunteers in liaison with Human Resources.
- Maintaining quality and professional relationships with support agencies and programs.
- Initiating and driving working methods to improve operational efficiency within the department.
- General administration including database entries and updates, communication and documentation.
- Monitoring and updating volunteer rosters ensuring efficient coverage of required duties.
- Maintain volunteer policies and processes.
- Knowledge and adherence to compliance of volunteer legislation.
Roster requirements
- This is a salaried part-time 20-hour a week role.
- Induction is facilitated on a Saturday, therefore three Saturdays per month are required, two at Coombabah and one at our Beenleigh Rehoming Centre 8:00am to 4:30pm.
- Our preference for the remaining days is Monday or Tuesday and Friday but we are offering flexibility with this roster outside of the Saturday.
What are the minimum requirements for this position?
- Current Drivers License – essential for travel between sites.
- Current National Police Check Clearance Certificate or willing to obtain one.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
- High level computer literacy - Confident computer skills with Microsoft office Suite and ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to resolve conflicts.
- Thrives in a fast paced diverse environment, with competing demands.
- Strong confidentiality with sensitive matters.
