About the role
AWLQ is contracted by the Gold Coast City Council to manage the Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre and provides service to the community and their pets.
The Rehoming Supervisors role is to assist the Rehoming Manager and the Assistant Manager to supervise the day-to-day operations of Centre in accordance with the contract terms. Progress animals through the Centre efficiently and effectively to maximise animal welfare and rehoming, and to minimise euthanasia.
What are the minimum requirements for this position?

Providing animal care including cleaning enclosures, feeding, and administering medications

Providing customer service including adoption and surrender counselling and processing

Completing animal behaviour assessments and management plans
- Operate and ensure the team performs in accordance with AWLQ protocols, policies, values, mission, and beliefs
- Ensure the smooth running of the Centre in the absence of the Rehoming Manager
- Motivate and provide clear direction to the team relating to operational activities, performance, and AWLQ goals
- Work closely with the Rehoming Managers to ensure seamless animal movement and communication of person and animal cases
- Appropriately manage conflict with customers and within the team, maintaining a resilient, positive, and composed leadership style to devise effective solutions within appropriate timeframes
- Assist with the training of staff and welcome new staff
- Ensure the smooth running of the Centre in the absence of the Rehoming Manager
- Complete administrative duties
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current drivers licence
- Dog and cat care experience in a facility or shelter- required
- Local Council knowledge and experience - desirable
- Qualification in animal behaviour or dog training – desirable
- Cert III Animal Studies – Highly Desired
- High volume intensive customer service experience - required
- Demonstrated affinity with animals, experience in animal welfare or Council Pounds
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others to achieve high productivity and standards of work
- Relevant customer service training and de-escalation training - desirable
- Intermediate-level computer skills - required
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
