The Opportunity 

The Head of Commercial Operations is a newly created, pivotal role. Developed in line with our strategic plan, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Leadership Team during a period of significant transformation. Reporting directly to a visionary and fast-paced CEO, you'll be instrumental in shaping a high-performing and engaging workplace culture. 

We are seeking an energetic and purpose-driven strategic leader who is ready to make a significant impact with a proven track record of driving sustainable revenue growth through commercial enterprises, including retail sales in Op Shops, Rehoming Centres, Community Vet Clinic retail, and Corporate Business Partnerships. This is a rare chance to blend your commercial acumen with your passion for a cause, directly influencing our ability to expand our impact and reach more animals in need. This role is critical to ensuring the long-term sustainability and continued impact of the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities 

Your role will be divided into three core areas:

 

1. Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to exceed ambitious targets and ensure long-term revenue growth.
  • Manage and drive performance across all commercial enterprises, including Op Shops, Rehoming Centre retail, Community Vet Clinic retail, and all merchandise.
  • Develop and maintain a disciplined pipeline for all new and existing revenue opportunities. 

2. Corporate Partnerships & Stakeholder Management 

  • Lead the acquisition and management of strategic corporate partnerships, building strong, long-term relationships with corporate supporters.
  • Collaborate and consult with leaders across various departments to deliver a well-rounded and cohesive commercial portfolio.
  • Act as a key ambassador for the organisation, representing our mission and values in corporate and public settings. 

3. Operations 

  • Implement a concise reporting suite to track results, monitor performance against KPIs, and ensure data integrity and transparency.
  • Oversee daily operations across all commercial sites, ensuring seamless processes and effective team management. 

Essential Qualifications and Experience 

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a retail management or commercial leadership role, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs.
  • Multi-site management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing corporate partnerships.
  • Proven ability to lead change, manage projects, and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • A tertiary qualification in business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A valid driver's licence and the commitment to attend all sites regularly.

  • Strong Commercial Acumen: You possess a deep understanding of commercial drivers and can develop and foster strategic partnerships that drive revenue and growth for the organization.
  • Highly Organised: You have strong organisational skills and can effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Mission-Driven: You are an energetic, purpose-driven professional with an unwavering commitment to our mission and values. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the animal welfare industry.
  • Experience in not-for-profit.
