The Opportunity
The Donor Development Manager is a newly created role within our Fundraising and Philanthropy team. Developed in line with our strategic plan, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Team during a period of significant transformation. Reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy, you will be central to growing and nurturing our individual and regular giving programs, helping to secure sustainable, long-term support for our cause. 

We are seeking an energetic and purpose-driven strategist with a proven track record in driving sustainable revenue growth through individual donor engagement and retention. You will lead the development and delivery of compelling campaigns, including tax-time and Christmas appeals, to inspire supporters to give regularly and deepen their connection to our mission. Key Responsibilities

  • Campaign Management
    Lead the design and delivery of multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including tax-time, Christmas, and regular giving appeals, single gift asks, and shoulder campaigns. Oversee creative direction, data segmentation, copywriting, and campaign execution to inspire action and maximise donor engagement.
  • Donor Acquisition & Retention
    Develop and implement strategies to acquire new individual donors, grow regular giving, and increase donor loyalty through upgrades, reactivations, and retention programs.
  • Supporter Journeys & Stewardship
    Design and optimise donor journeys that provide timely, relevant, and inspiring communications. Manage onboarding, nurturing, and thank-you programs that strengthen supporter satisfaction and lifetime value.
  • Data & Insights
    Ensure accurate donor data capture, segmentation, and reporting. Monitor campaign performance, analyse trends, and provide insights to optimise fundraising ROI and donor lifetime value.
  • Collaboration & Integration
    Work closely with marketing, programs, and other fundraising teams to deliver an integrated, donor-centred approach. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure campaigns are on-brand, impactful, and delivered on time.
  • Strategic Contribution
    Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning for individual and regular giving programs. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of fundraising tools, processes, and supporter engagement strategies.

Essential Qualifications and Experience 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in individual giving, direct marketing, or fundraising campaign management. 
  • Proven experience managing regular giving and single gift campaigns across multiple channels.  
  • Experience in donor journey mapping and lifecycle marketing. 
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience using CRM databases (e.g. Salesforce or similar) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a proactive and organised approach.  
  • Passion for animal welfare and the mission of AWLQ.  
  • A valid driver's licence and the commitment to attend all sites regularly.
  • Approved Police and Vulnerable Persons Checks.
