About the role

Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for a combined Veterinary Receptionist/Animal Care Attendant at Gold Coast Community Vet Clinic! AWLQ Animal Attendants and Receptionists play a huge part in ensuring the welfare of our animals. This is a casual role with the opportunity to move to permanent part-time.

The Receptionist/Animal Attendant is responsible for supporting the team in providing the highest level of care to our patients.  You’ll be working within a team of highly skilled and passionate veterinary professionals under the banner of one of the most respected brands in animal welfare. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and cleaning animal housing to a high standard
  • Monitoring and reporting on animal welfare
  • Providing food, water and regular exercise to all animals in care 
  • High-level accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using our digital system.
  • Exceptional customer service to all visitors
  • Answer incoming calls with strong professionalism and accurate information.
  • Transfer calls to the relevant department.
  • Provide strong face-to-face customer service and facilitate appointment setting.
  • Facilitate the impounding and reclaiming of animals
  • Ensure the register balances are reconciled at the end of each day.
  • Assist with preparing invoices and other documentation, as well as document management.
  • Replacing merchandise in the vet clinic store.
  • Complete a variety of general administrative duties
  • Responsible for opening and closing the reception area and ensuring it is clean and tidy.
  • Comply with all OH&S guidelines to ensure high standards of personal care are maintained
  • Ensure issues are addressed and conflicts resolved with a high degree of customer support.
  • Answer a broad range of client questions associated with AWLQ and work in accordance with policies and procedures.

What are the minimum requirements for this position?

  • Certificate II in Animal Studies or equivalent experience 
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environment
  • Confident dog and cat handling skills, able to read body language 
  • Experience using digital management software and inputting data
  • Strong experience in a high-volume volume intensive customer service environment.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in administrative and reception roles.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite and IT systems ability (minimum).
