About the role
We’re seeking a dedicated Veterinarian to join our compassionate team at our Hobart (Lenah Valley) Community Vet Clinic on a Full-Time basis. This role offers the opportunity to provide essential care to animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care and ensure the well-being of all patients.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical and surgical cases.
- Communicate effectively with clients to provide education, advice, and support.
- Work collaboratively with veterinary nurses and support staff to achieve the best outcomes.
- Uphold HCVC’s commitment to keeping pets and people together, ensuring that animals receive the care they need regardless of their owners' financial situation.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science and current registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Tasmania.
- Strong clinical and surgical skills with a compassionate approach to animal care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage diverse cases and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to HCVC’s mission of providing accessible and affordable veterinary care.

- High attention to detail, accurate data entry and records maintenance.
- Strong computer literacy with experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Extensive experience in cat and dog care, behaviour assessment and management, disease prevention and management in a facility environment.

Our Hospital has state-of-the-art equipment such as digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental rads and much more.
We are situated in the quiet, affluent suburb of Lenah Valley, just a 10-minute drive from the city centre, surrounded by tree-covered hills with views of Mt Wellington. We are open Monday to Friday and refer all after-hours work to a nearby emergency clinic, which affords us an excellent work-life balance.
